Science Update

There are a lot of important dates coming up for science that I wanted you to be aware of.  We are working on the cell unit, so you should be studying everyday.  The CELL MODEL is due Thursday, March 17.  Please see my rubric on Progressbook for more details.  I also explained all my expectations to students in class.  The CELL QUIZ will also be on Thursday, March 17.  Our CHAPTER ONE TEST will be Thursday, March 24.  There is a study guide on Progressbook for this test.

Math Update!

 
Math 7:  We will be working with proportions and scale drawings.  We will be reviewing customary units and similar figures also.  Look for a Test onproportions at the end of the week.
 
Pre-Alg: We will be starting Chapter 8.  We will be learning about functions and graphing equations all week.  No test this week.

Weekly Update 2/4

Social Studies:

On Monday the students will take a major quiz on Chap. 9 sec. 1 and 2 including the Persian and Pelop. Wars.  We will then begin our study of Alexander the Great.  I will be collecting the “People booklet” on Tuesday.  The test for the entire chapter is scheduled for February 15th at this time.

Science:

We will have our chapter 2 and 3 test on Thursday.  Then we will begin our chapter 5 student taught lessons.  Our test for Chapter 5 will be Friday the 18th.  There are a few assignments due Monday:  2.5 wkst, biome chart, and extra credit.  The extra credit is on Progressbook, as well as the extra credit.  The biome postcard is due Tuesday. 
Next week in language arts:
            Students will need to bring their Science Fiction/ Fantasy book choice to class on Thursday.  Their 3rd quarter book report is a literary magazine and it is due Monday, March 14.  Guidelines and directions were handed out in class last week.
            This week we will begin a grammar unit.  We will start with a “review” of the parts of speech, specifically nouns and pronouns
RICA:
Next week on tuesday we will have our stems quiz 14 and a Chinese Cinderella quiz over chpts. 13-15 including vocabulary.  We will continue our book and should wrap up in the next two weeks.

Science Update

Science:
 
We have a 2.1 quiz today.  Please make sure you are studying a little bit every day so you can be successful for the test.  There will be various homework assignments this week so please check your agenda.  We will be finishing chapter 2 and then our test will be next week Tuesday or Wednesday.

Math Update!

Math 7:
 
This week we will be working with Ratios, Rates, and Proportions (Ch 5).  We might have a quiz on Thursday.  We will finish up the week working with customary units of measure.
 
Pre-Algebra:
 
This week we will be working with inequalities ( Ch 2 and Ch 7).  Test will early next week.

Science Update

This week in science, we will be working on our deer overpopulation project.  This is an in-class assignment, so please try to be here every day.  These presentations will take place on Thursday or Monday.  Please listen in class for the exact date.
 
Today I will also be passing back the chapter 1 environmental science tests – which means test corrections are due Wednesday 1/19.  I have explained the process for test corrections in class, so please ask your student if this applies to him or her and for the correct procedure.  I will be working diligently over the next few days to get in any test corrections, extra credit, and deer websites, so please keep checking back!

Weekly Update 1/7

Social Studies:

The final week of the quarter is here.  The Aegean Sea project is due on Wednesday.  This is a great way to review for our final test of the Greece chapter.  The test will be on Thursday and includes 50 questions on scantron and one essay question.  We will review in class on Wednesday.  Our next chapter is intense.  It includes the Greek conflicts and the achievements that still impact our lives today.
 
Math:
 
Week of Jan 18 – 20
 
Math 7: We are reviewing Ch 4 and Ch 12 and having a test on Wednesday.  It will be the final grade of the quarter.
 
Pre-Algebra: We are working with solving equations (Ch 7) and will have a quiz on Wednesday. 
 
Language arts
·         Sentence Fluency-  This week we will look at and practice more ways to vary our sentences.
·         We are also going to look at different ways to organize our writing.
 
RICA:
 
This week we covered chapters 5-7 in our Chinese Cinderella books.  On Tuesday we watched a video on foot binding that went along with our story.  We also took a map quiz on Asia.  Next week we will be covering chapters 8-10 in our books.
